Set against the backdrop of the pristine waters of Southeast Alaska, Tonka Seafoods is a privately held company owned completely by local fishermen in Petersburg, Alaska. The rich history of Tonka Seafoods traces back to the 1900s when a Norwegian immigrant established a cannery on the north end of the island, giving birth to the town of Petersburg. However, cast the line further back and the native tribes of the Tlingit fished the area and fed their people from the abundant seafood produced in the waters.

Fishing has continued to be the lifeblood of the area, passed from generation to generation. The nutrient-rich waters serve as a vital highway for several salmon species

which migrate through the bountiful sea providing not only food but a way of life sustained by traditions and techniques that connect the past with the present, enriching the bond between fisherman and the ocean.

Today, Tonka Seafoods takes pride in being one of the largest processors of smoked salmon in Alaska. Their freshly caught seafood is vacuum sealed within hours after being caught by local fisherman. From the sea to your plate, Tonka Seafoods is renowned for its meticulous standards and techniques, ensuring that their high-quality seafood reflects both freshness and exceptional flavor.
